Larry
and Jullie at Dumbarton Oaks

Tute
It has been an intense week. Perhaps I’ll have time to say more later.
Today was a day for Julie and I, at least mostly. I got up around
8:30am must to my dismay. I had want to sleep as late as I wanted
but Tute did his usual and woke me up at around 6:30. I tried to go
back to sleep but
Tute
would either meow or walk across me every 15 to 20 minutes. Also we
had the window open, great weather for sleeping, but the neighbor
was outside in the parking lot around 7:30 talking loudly. I was
extra tired from and intense week, as I started to say, and from
playing racket ball for two hours on Friday night. I had a good
night at racket ball. I had Alex down 7 to 1 and then 10 to 8. I
lost but this was the best ever I have played against Alex, an A
player. I won an additional 4 games against other B players.
I got up around 8:45, ate breakfast and then called into work to see
what was going on. I expected Norm to be working and sure enough he
was in. I talked to him briefly and told him I would be at work in
1/2 hour or so. I ate breakfast, cleaned up and went into work.
Julie was still sleeping when I left. Lucky her. At work I
reviewed the status of things, helped save and put optical platters
in the system and check things out.[1]
Everything seemed relative normal so I called Julie around 11:30 and
we planned to meet a her work, Alternative House to drop her car off
and then go into Georgetown for lunch.
It was a beautiful day. Sunny, warm but not overly so, nice gentle
wind, just a perfect day. We met and went into Georgetown. It
couldn’t have been better. We found a parking place right away,
walked a short distance to the restaurant and sat outside. Lunch
was good although Julie ordered crab quiche which she didn’t like
and sent it back. I was a little irritated but tried not to let it
show. Julie often ordered food and found she didn’t like it and
sent it back, particularly quiche. This used to bother me a lot but
I gotten somewhat used to it and now it only bothers me a little.
After all I get my food, which is fine, she sends hers back and then
she has to reorder. By the time she gets her food I am usually
completely done and then I have to wait for her to finish hers.
Kind of irritating but I have found this is much better then her
getting food she doesn’t like. She did then get a dish that was
very good and we were in no hurry so it all turned out good in the
end.
We then walked to Georgetown mall and had an iced coffee. I don’t
usually like coffee but this was very good so we shared a large
one. After walking back to the car we drove up to Dumbarton Oaks
and again found a parking space right away. SUPER. We then spent a
wonderful couple of hours walking around Dumbarton, hand in hand and
being very close. I hadn’t felt that close to Julie in a while. We
walked hand in hand, kissed, touched and generally I felt very close
to her. I remembered the time several years ago, one hot summer day
we went to Dumbarton when there was no one else there. We fond a
quite spot and made love on one of the benches. I have found
memories of Dumbarton.
After Dumbarton we went down W street (actually Wisconsin) and went
in to a ice cream store and had mint chocolate chip ice cream. It
was great.
We then went down to the mall to a concert at Smithsonian. It was
supposed to be a flute concert but it also had drums and piano. It
as Ok but not as good as I had hoped but I was a good way to spend
the evening. Unfortunately, Julie said she would work at
Alternative house at 7:30 so we had to leave the concert early,
after the second movement of the last piece. And it was the best
peace. I wasn’t happy about it, but I understood she had committed
to work. After such a wonderful day and feeling so close to Julie I
want to only come home and make love to her.
I dropped her off a Alternative house and then came home. I
stopped on the way home at the grocery store and bought a bottle of
wine, some bread, lunch meat, and some buffalo wings for dinner.
After a couple of glasses of wine and dinner I now sit her thinking
about the day and how beautiful it was and decided to write.
[1] We had a contract with the U.S. Navy records division to build a system to digitize and store personnel records on optical disks.
