Subject: Feels like a vacation
I don't know if I mentioned that ALL my classes cancelled this week.
It feels like a vacation. Monday's class cancelled because of
Memorial Day. Tuesday's class cancelled because she also teaches
the same class on Monday and it had to cancel, so she didn't want us to
get ahead. Then, Wednesday night we told our prof our other two
classes had cancelled, and would he please cancel our Wed. class.
Since we got off to a roaring start the very first night, he agreed.
It is so strange to go home and not have class. I can see where
you can do all sorts of projects, because when I get home just before 5
there are several hours of daylight "left."
I still don't have one of my grades, though I imagine it was an A.
I know, this lull, in some ways is getting to me. If I'm here I'd
rather have research to do. I've had some this morning, but it
just hasn't seemed to lately reach a level of intensity. Perhaps
it is the influence of summer. I get really restless.
I'm reading a strange book about post war Berlin and a group who dig a
tunnel from the Western sector under the earth to the Eastern, Soviet
sector, in order to tap into the underground cable communication lines
and spy on the Soviets. Actually the book which is a novel isn't
about that, but that's part of what's going on among the characters, one
of whom is employed to assist with the project.
I'd like to see Horse Whisperer. There's a show at 4:30 and I may
try to leave 15 minutes early one day this week to see it. I try
to catch the afternoon shows because it is so much more economical--3
dollars as opposed to 6-7. I can't see 6 or 7 bucks for a movie.
I'd rather wait for video, but I like the big screen multiplex theatre
which was just built with the balcony seats.
Well, not much new. It seems you have more to do than I.
I'm scrambling for "quick" vegetarian meals I might fix when school
resumes. Two nights in a row I've had flour tortillas on which I
put some vegetarian (no fat) refried beans and then piled on a mound of
sauted veges, peppers, onions, garlic, tomatoes, broccoli. It's
quite good and quick, but I need some more things I can fix quickly, or
else I'll have to cook ahead. You said you do pita pizzas, but I
do English Muffin ones. They're good. Last night I made a
small portion of curried brown rice and peas to have tonight.
Well, later. My mind is on food because I haven't had lunch yet
and had a very light breakfast. Elizabeth
