For the 1908-1909 school year the following teachers were appointed: Shiloh – Miss Ola Sims, Flemington – Miss Caroline Pasteur. In August the Shilh school was granted $10 for repairs.
For the 1909-1910 school year the following teachers were appointed: Flemington – Miss Una Shealey, Shiloh – Miss Rudolph Myles. There were 64 white schools, 44 colored schools in Marion County. In September of 1909 Mr. H. Harrell resigned as supervisor of Shiloh School and Mr. D. R. Zetrouer was appointed. The Zetrouer’s were one of the largest landowners in Marion County and the Shiloh area.
In June of 1910, for the upcoming school year D.R. Zetrouer, supervisor of Shiloh school, requested money for repairs of the building and a blackboard surface. The board granted $10 with the patrons to furnish the remainder. The Shiloh and Flemington teachers were to be paid $35 a month. Florence Cork was appointed as the teacher for Shiloh.
The April 14th 1911 edition of The Ocala Evening Star had a special edition about the advantages of living in Marion County including the following educational advantages starting with:
The most important enterprise of any community is that of educating
its people. In order that there be an intelligent citizenship, and that
ignorance be not the characteristic condition the community assumes the
obligation of the enlightenment of its own masses for its own
preservation and elevation.
No section of the state of Florida has been more richly endowed by
nature with the essentials of material development than has Marion
county, and she long ago recognized that the most absolutely essential
thing for the success and happiness of her people was that they be
rendered and maintained civil and intelligent. In order to accomplish
this in the fullest and most satisfactory manner she early made liberal
provisions for the development of her public school system.
The article stated there were 106 schools (white and colored) with the term for white schools of six months , with 34 special tax districts providing additional funds for one or two months. Colored schools’ term was five months with two operating for eight months. The following appointments were made, Shiloh school: Miss Annie McDonald teacher, D.R. Zetrouer supervisor; Flemington school: Miss Lottie Mills teacher, W.S. Priest supervisor.

Mr. D.R. Zetrouer requested to increase the Shiloh teacher salary by $5 but it was refused. In the June meeting, D.R. Zetrouer again asked for teacher salary to be increased to $40. In the July meeting Miss Mabel Turner was appointed teacher Shiloh. In December Mr. Zetrouer request was granted and the Shiloh teacher salary was increased to $40 for the remainder of the school year.
